As we continue to recap the 2022 season, here is our Top 10 Plays of the Season!

Honorable Mention: Kendal "The Flash" Ewell (July 8)

With a little help from the Trenton defense, Kendal Ewell managed to score all the way from first on an errant pickoff throw. The former Eastern Kentucky Colonel and Golden Spikes Semifinalist from a year ago has now transferred to the University of Kentucky to play in the SEC for the Wildcats.

10. The Third Wright Brother Has Landed (Aug. 11)

Amir Wright took flight in the 9th inning, laying out to make a spectacular back-handed catch in the pouring rain to help secure a Frederick win over Trenton.

9. Caleb Completes the Comeback (Aug. 30)

Down four in the 8th against West Virginia, Caleb Upshaw completed a Frederick come-from-behind win in the extra-inning sudden death tie breaker with a single off the pitcher’s leg into right field, scoring Ben Fitzgerald from second.

8. Welcome to 26 Jump Street (June 5)

Hunter Jump introduced himself to the Keys fans and to the MLB Draft League in style during opening weekend, homering in his very first at-bat of the summer against Trenton in front of the home crowd.

8. Baeza Hits Bombs (Episode IV) (Aug. 12-14)

Alex Baeza had a weekend to remember against Mahoning Valley from August 12-14, hitting four home runs in the series and would eventually be named MLB Draft League Hitter of the Week for his performance.

6. U Can’t Touch This (Ryan’s Version) (Aug. 13-14)

Ryan Langford could not have drawn up a better weekend against Mahoning Valley from August 12-14. The right-hander threw two perfect innings and struck out the side both times, earning MLB Draft League Pitcher of the Week honors for his performance.

5. Carlos in the Clutch (June 24)

Carlos Guzman was the hero in Frederick’s first ever extra-inning sudden death tie breaker win on the road at West Virginia, singling up the middle with two outs, scoring Daniel Figueroa from third and securing one of the best wins of the season for Frederick.

4. 6+4+3 = 2 (June 24)

In a tied game in the 9th against West Virginia with only one out and runners on first and third, the double play duo of Nander de Sedas, Dylan Hoy turned a terrific double play to send the game into the extra sudden death tiebreaker, which the Keys would eventually win in. Even with the runner from first stealing on the pitch, the Keys infielders still managed to turn the timely double play, silencing the Black Bears crowd.

3. Cheffin’ It Up with Cobe (June 19)

Cobe Reeves cooked on the mound on Father’s Day Sunday at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium. The left-hander struck out a season-high 10 against West Virginia, the most strikeouts in a single game by any Keys pitcher in 2022.

2. The Comeback Kids (Aug. 20)

In a game where Frederick committed four errors and blew a four-run lead late, 9th inning heroics by Hunter Jump and Ben Fitzgerald gave the Keys an improbable come-from-behind win over Trenton in front of a Saturday night sellout crowd. Jump’s RBI double with two out tied the game while Fitzgerald’s walk-off single with the bases loaded won the game for Frederick.

1. A Season Opener to Remember (June 2)

The season opener of 2022 could not have been scripted better for Carlos Guzman. The catcher went 4-for-4 at the plate with six RBI, including a tie-breaking three-run homer in the 7th, lifting the Keys to an 8-5 win on opening night. He was the only Frederick player to record a six RBI game this summer.
