(Trenton, NJ) – For the third time this season, a sold-out crowd filled Thunder Park on a beautiful Pork Roll Friday night. Unfortunately, the Thunder found themselves behind after the Black Bears came out swinging in their first at-bats combining for three hits and a walk to put a three-spot on the scoreboard. West Virginia added their fourth run the very next inning on a Noah Fisher sacrifice fly to right field. Fisher also plated the Black Bears fifth run of the night on a two-out triple to centerfield in the fourth.

It took the Pork Roll until their half of the fourth inning to get their first run, when Isaiah Drake earned a bases loaded walk that scored Chase Engelhard. Trenton would strand the bases loaded to finish the inning and would eventually strand 9 total base runners on the evening. Your Pork Roll didn’t go down without a fight, however, when they found a way to tie the game at five in the bottom of the seventh. Socrates Bardatsos kicked off the inning, and his second stint in Trenton, with a leadoff single. Cooper Cornblum followed suit by singling to left and Chris Brito loaded the bases with a walk.

Following a wild pitch that scored Bardatsos and a West Virginia pitching change, Ryland Zaborowksi brought home Cornblum on a swinging bunt groundout to make it 5-3. Brito would score the next at-bat on a wild pitch to Trey Paige. Trenton would score three runs in the inning without recording a hit and just making one out. The lone RBI-hit came off Paige’s bat at no better time, knotting the game at five a piece in the bottom of the seventh.

The Black Bears refused to be denied in this one, when in the top of the ninth a one out double off the bat of Brody Fahr represented the winning run. Devin Saltiban would follow him with a single, and West Virginia took the final lead of the night on a sacrifice fly from Nick Iannantone that scored Fahr.
