Final Score State College 6 Williamsport 2

University Park, PA – The Cutters allow 6 runs in the third and fourth inning and fall to the State College Spikes 6-2 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

The Cutters were able to take initial lead of the ballgame in the top of the third inning when Tyrese Johnson drove in both Tyler Herron and Daunte Stuart with a two out double down the left field line.

The Spikes countered in the bottom of the third with a sacrifice fly by Robby Morgan IV, scoring Aden Howard, followed by an RBI single by Jack Riedel driving in the tying run.

The bottom of the fourth started with a double by Bobby Sparling, where he scored on a one out single by Ethan Mendoza. After a stolen base and a walk to Will Bush, Robby Morgan IV reached on an error by second baseman Daunte Stuart. That error allowed two runs to score, followed immediately by Bryce Matthews tripled down the right field line bringing home two more runs which then extended the lead to 6-2.

Even while taking the loss, the Cutters pitching staff did still show some promise on the bump. They struck out 14 Spikes throughout the night while allowing 6 runs, 3 earned, on 8 hits and walking 8 batters as a staff.

With the loss, the Crosscutters fall to 0-2 on the young MLB Draft League season.

Williamsport returns to Happy Valley once again tomorrow to again face the State College Spikes at 6:35pm for Game #3 of this four-game opening series. The Cutters return home on Sunday at 4:05pm to conclude the series with the Spikes.
