Draft League president and former Southern University head coach Kerrick Jackson used the Andre Dawson Classic as an opportunity to both see potential players for the Draft League and help with exposure for those players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Left-handed pitcher Mitch Bratt joined MLB Network's Hot Stove to talk about his experience playing for the West Virginia Black Bears and the chance to learn from manager Jedd Gyorko before the Texas Rangers selected him in the 2021 MLB Draft.

Thirty nine players in the inaugural MLB Draft League were selected in the 2021 MLB Draft. Alex Ulloa of the Frederick Keys was the first of those taken, going in the fourth round, while Williamsport led the way with eight of its players picked.

Over 50 former Draft League players signed free-agent deals after going unselected in the 2021 MLB Draft. That includes 22 players who hooked on in affiliated ball.

The Trenton Thunder narrowly beat out the West Virginia Black Bears by a percentage point and half-game in the standings to be crowned MLB Draft League champions. The Thunder won 30 of their 56 games and evenly split their victories between home and road.
