Who is eligible to participate in the MLB Draft League?
Any current draft-eligible prospect can participate in the league - Division I, Division 2, Division 3, NAIA and Junior College. Graduating high school seniors may also be eligible to participate.

What is the fee for players to participate in the MLB Draft League?
The league is free for players. Players need to pay their way to get to the league at the start date.
What is the benefit of playing in the MLB Draft League?
With the draft being moved back to July, there is a new opportunity for the top draft prospects to showcase their skills against each other and boost their draft stock. Draft League participants will receive unprecedented visibility to MLB Club scouts through both in-person observation and state-of-the-art scouting technology, and educational programming designed to prepare them for careers as professional athletes. Furthermore, Prep Baseball Report will also use their media and technology platforms to promote the league and its players throughout the season.
What is Prep Baseball Report’s role in the MLB Draft League?
Prep Baseball Report will be responsible for all on-field operations of the league, including player selection and recruitment, coaches and roster management during the league.
What is the process to play in the MLB Draft League?
Prep Baseball Report’s scouting staff will source all players for the league. PBR staff will contact players’ college coaches for recommendations to identify all the top draft prospects, in addition to working off PBR’s draft lists and scouting information. PBR staff will also confer with pro scouts and advisors. Players can also apply by filling out the form above.
How many teams are in the league?
Six. The Mahoning Valley Scrappers, the State College Spikes, the West Virginia Black Bears, the Williamsport Crosscutters, the Trenton Thunder and the Frederick Keys.
Where are the teams and stadiums located?
Teams are geographically based in New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
What kind of baseball facilities will the MLB Draft League be playing in?
All facilities are former minor-league stadiums, which previously hosted teams from the New York-Penn League and Eastern League. In addition to high-level facilities, players will get a feel for life as a professional player with travel and continuous game play.

When does the league start and end, and how many games?
The MLB Draft League will be 68 games, starting in late May/early June and ending in early August. There will be a midseason break leading into the 2021 MLB Draft, with the second half of the season starting shortly after the conclusion of the Draft. Games are nine-inning contests, seven innings for doubleheaders, if applicable.
What are the players’ living arrangements?
Players will be provided housing free of charge by their MLB Draft League team. All teams in the league have extensive experience providing high-quality housing to players during their time as Minor League teams, and the league is working with teams to make sure all housing meets applicable COVID-19 safety precautions.
How do I register for the MLB Draft League? And what happens after the contract is signed?
If selected, players will be issued a player contract, which will need to be signed off by players’ college coach. Players will be notified which of the six Draft League teams they have been assigned to in February.
What happens after the draft and I am drafted?
If drafted, players are not obligated to stay in the league, and will go to where the drafting MLB club assigns you. Following the Draft, rosters will be replenished with other draft-eligible players who want to be scouted and evaluated by MLB clubs for the rest of the summer. League play will stop during the three-day draft between July 11-13.
Are meals included in the MLB Draft League?
Players will receive pre-game and post-game meals.
COVID-19 Protocols
Player health and safety are of the utmost importance to MLB, PBR and the MLB Draft League teams. We are working together to implement comprehensive COVID-19 health and safety protocols, and will provide participating players with additional information prior to the season.
Will there be an opportunity to try out for the MLB Draft League to earn a roster spot?
Yes. One of the goals of the MLB Draft League is to provide lesser scouted players the opportunity to showcase their skills and raise their profile before or after the draft. As part of that, each MLB Draft League team will have roster spots reserved for tryout players at the start of the season to earn a permanent roster spot. More details to come.
What if my college team is still playing at the start of the league?
No problem. Players will report when their college season is officially over. MLB Draft League personnel will be in close communication with you throughout the process.
Who will be coaching the teams?
Prep Baseball Report will be identifying talented coaches from all levels of college baseball and/or former minor league coaches for the league. Each team will have three coaches plus an athletic trainer.
Do I need to bring my own equipment?
Yes. Due to COVID-19 protocols, players should bring their own equipment, such as helmets, catchers gear, batting gloves, cleats, mitts, etc. Teams will provide helmets should a player not have their own. Wood bats will be provided by the team.
How will pitchers be used?
The MLB Draft League will follow best practices for player health and safety, including the recommended Pitch Smart pitch count limits.
